This 2026 Hallmark Keepsake Ornament features the always hungry hobbit, "Samwise Gamgee," from the J.R.R. Tolkien books and movie, "Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring." He's wearing a green cloak over his traveling clothes and his big, hairy hobbit feet stand on a tuft of grass above the "Bag End," Bilbo and Frodo Baggins' expansive, underground "smial," the hobbit house in the Shire, on top of The Hill at Hobbiton. Sam is a gardener and domestic servant for Frodo (see ornament QXI1636 ), who becomes like a brother, during the course of their adventures. Early on in the narrative, Sam refers to Frodo as "Mr. Frodo" or "Master," to show respect for Frodo's social standing as "landed gentry," as Sam belongs to the working class. Fun Fact: The author actually based their dynamic on the "batman," a term used for the WWI British Army officer's personal servant/soldier, who was responsible for cooking and carrying the officer's gear. This ornament is part of the Storytellers Collection, which performs a scene from the movie when plugged into a Keepsake Power Cord (sold separately). Ornaments from the collection interact with each other and provide additional content from the film. It can stand on it's own, or be hung from the top, and is dated on the underside of the base.
