This ornament was issued in limited quantities and first available at the 2026 Keepsake Ornament Premiere Event, and features " Maleficent," a dark fairy, aka "Mistress of all Evil," after she has transformed into a huge, vengeful dragon, standing on the drawbridge of the castle, near the end of the 2014 Disney movie, " Sleeping Beauty ." Originally depicted as a sweet and trusting soul, she falls in love and is betrayed by the future King Stefan, who steals her wings, causing her heart to harden. She curses Princess Aurora as a baby, but develops a god-mother status with her and saves her with a kiss, in the end. This modern take on the 1959 animated film has a powerful plot twist that makes it special, as the love that saves her is not romantic but maternal. Angelina Jolie, the actress who portrayed Maleficent stated: "It's all about the very question of what love is, and even if you don't have children, you still have parents, so you know that this kind of love is the truest form. And what also works is that true love's kiss came from the person who really didn't believe she was capable of any kind of goodness or love — that she would in any way be loved or have love is something she'd long ago dismissed from her life. So the thing is not only that she does express it, but it's the shock for her, which I think is so beautiful." The ornament can stand on it's own, or be hung from the top, and is dated on the underside of the base. It's packaged in a full color box.
