features Santa carrying a huge hippo, with a large candy cane, in his patched-up sack. The hippopotamus, which is ten times his size and dreamily resting it's head on it's hands, seems quite happy to let Santa do all the heavy lifting, unaware that he's breathing a little harder than usual! The sack has been torn several times, indicating this may not be the first attempt to transport the happy hippo, but Santa never disappoints! Celebrate the playful holiday song, " I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas" with this funny ornament, showing Santa putting in the work in order to deliver the unusual Christmas wish to one lucky child. The silly scene captures the charm of the beloved song that has entertained families for generations by playing part of the 1953 song, performed by Gayla Peevey, when batteries are inserted and you press the button on the side of the sack to activate Magic Sound. The ornament is packaged in a full color box.

Fun Fact: Adult hippopotami don't really have predators, due to their humongous size and reputation for aggression!

Tracy Larsen continues his family's tradition of choosing a fresh fir tree, together, for Christmas. They also put up artificial trees because they have such a large collection of ornaments--"enough to cover two or three...or four."

Jim Kemme earned his Bachelor’s in Fine Arts in 1966 and began working for Hallmark the same year, designing all types of products and ornaments, most notably the Nature’s Sketchbook Collection by Marjolein Bastin, and the Peanuts characters. For their 50th Anniversary Doghouse, he chose porcelain, adding golden accents and explaining, “We wanted something that had a little class to it but still had that whimsical feeling so familiar to fans of Peanuts.”
