Chris said he got the idea for the spec script while living in a New York loft that was infested with mice, and the noises of them scurrying around during the night were terrifying to him. Warner Bros. sued the creators of the Furby toys, because they looked too much like Gizmo, and they were awarded a seven-figure settlement!
