Lionel Trains
2006 Lionel 1950 Santa Fe COLORWAY
2006 Hallmark Lionel Trains Ornament
QXE3233
Lionel first introduced the F3 diesel in 1948. Perhaps the greatest model diesel locomotive ever produced, the F3 was originally offered in two schemes - the Santa Fe's warbonnet and the New York Central's lightning stripe. Both locomotives were styled with the cooperation of their respective railroads, and the model was partially funded by the EMD, the builder of the real-life F3s. Both designs were an instant hit, and the Santa Fe would go on to become the best-selling engine in Lionel's history, staying in the Lionel catalog for 19 years.
This Limited Special Edition ornament is a repainted version of the 1997 Lionel 1950 Santa Fe F3A Diesel Locomotive ornament, and first available at the 2006 Keepsake Ornament Premiere event.
