Frosty Friends
1985 Baby's First Christmas
1985 Hallmark Frosty Friends Ornament
QLX7005
This 1985 Hallmark Keepsake Christmas Ornament is part of the Holiday Magic Collection and features a pastel orange carousel with two brown teddy bears riding clear, acrylic horses. The top of the carousel is dated 1985 with the caption, "BABY'S FIRST CHRISTMAS," in red. It has green and red stripes at the peak, which has a metal port to insert a bulb from a miniature light string, making the horses glow. Metallic-gold scallops trim the top with flowers carved into the background and reflective "mirror" panels, alternating with red, flowered panels. The base has matching red and green stripes bordering the floor, which has a metallic-gold rim. A dated copyright is on the underside of the base and the ornament can sit on it's own, or be hung from the top. It's enclosed in a clear plastic shell, molded for protection, and is packaged in the original full color box, with three open windows, shaped like arches.
Ed Seale is from Ontario, Canada, and worked for Hallmark from 1968-1999. He's best known for being one of the founding artists in the Frosty Friends series, the longest-running Hallmark Keepsake series. "The warmth of fun and friendship in an icy, cold place. We lived on a farm in Canada — and the pond was the biggest source of entertainment."
