Hallmark Keepsake Ornament

1984 The Muppets

1984 Hallmark Keepsake Ornament

QX2514

This 1984 Hallmark Keepsake Christmas Ornament is a chrome glass ball, with silver metal cap, featuring Miss Piggy's head and lavender-gloved arms peeking out from the center of a heart-shaped wreath, made of holly, mistletoe, and evergreen. The caption underneath reads "Merry Kissmas!" in hot pink and she's wearing a Santa hat with matching fur-trimmed top. The opposite side shows Kermit, in a Santa hat, waving from the center of a round wreath, made of the same greenery. The caption above is: "Hoppy, Hoppy Holidays!" in the same pink color with the dated copyright printed in black, below. The ornament is packaged in the original "window" box, viewable from all sides, so you can see the entire bulb.

Disclaimer: As with many older glass ball ornaments, it may have developed "age spots," which is normal with older ornaments.

Fun Fact: The first version that Jim Henson created of the Muppet, Kermit the Frog, in 1955, wasn't green at all! It was more like a lizard than a frog and the color was a turquoise-beige, made from an old spring coat of his mother's, a pair of his blue jeans, and two ping-pong balls, cut in half, for eyes. Miss Piggy's character was intended to be a comedic parody of a classy, jazz singer diva. Her high-fashion look and iconic jewelry were meant to give the glam but were also chosen with practical puppetry purposes, as well--the pearls hid the seam where her head connects to her body and the satin gloves, inspired by cabaret star "Hildegarde," hid the rod mechanism used to move her arms.
