1983 The Muppets
1983 Hallmark Muppets Ornament
QX2147B
This 1983 Hallmark Keepsake Christmas Ornament is an unbreakable light blue satin ball, with a silver metal cap shaped like a crown and clear plastic sleeve, featuring Kermit, Fozzy Bear, and Miss Piggy from The Muppets. On the message panel, Fozzy is flying in a red, green, and pink hot air balloon over clouds that spell "MERRY CHRISTMAS." He's holding on to his hat as he leans over the side to read the message in the snowy sky. His white and orange tie blows in the wind and the top of a fir tree is popping out of the basket. On the dated panel, we see Kermie flying in a white plane with candy cane striped details, with Miss Piggy in the back seat and "1983" in red on the side. The ornament is packaged in the original "window" box, viewable from all sides, so you can see the entire bulb.
Fun Fact: It's appropriate that this ornament has an animal in a hot air balloon because the first passengers in the first balloon were a duck, rooster, and sheep! The oldest form of successful aviation dates back to September, 1783, when the Montgolfier brothers launched these animals high into the sky, to see if a living creature could survive the high altitudes.
