1983 Skiing Fox
1983 Hallmark early 90's, and is best known for creating the beloved Keepsake Ornament
QX4207
This 1983 Hallmark Keepsake Ornament features a red fox wearing a green scarf and crouched low with a flat back, in the tuck position, skiing on green and brown boards with no poles. Also known as the "schuss" position, when going straight down, skiers use this stance to increase speed by reducing the air resistance when downhill racing or gliding across flat sections. The ornament is encased in a plastic tray, molded for protection, and packaged in the original box with a full color sleeve.
Fun Fact: The standard red fox (Vulpes vulpes) can birth pups in the same litter with different colored coats. Although they belong to the same species, only about ten percent of wild "red" foxes are born with a silver or black coat.
Donna Lee, the artist, worked for Hallmark from 1958 until she retired in the early 90's, and is best known for creating the beloved Keepsake series, "Nostalgic Houses and Shops," and "Donna Lee Angels."
