This 1983 Hallmark Keepsake Christmas Ornament features a brown rabbit on red and white ice skates, wearing green mittens and a knit hat made just for bunnies! The green and red hat with white cuff and pom poms has two separate sections, so each ear can move independently. His tail is a real pom pom, fuzzy and snow-white, like a real cottontail rabbit's. The ornament is packaged in the original box with a full color sleeve.
Fun Fact: Cottontail rabbits, unlike some others, don't dig their own burrows but choose abandoned burrows or hide in thick brush or vegetation on the edge of dense cover. Being "crepuscular," they're active at dusk and dawn and don't hibernate. As herbivores, they eat greens like grass, clover, and garden crops in the Summer, but change their diet, in the Winter, to twigs, bark, and buds. When being chased by a predator, they can run up to 18 mph, using fast, zig-zag movements to avoid capture.
