Hallmark Keepsake Ornament
1983 Baby's First Christmas
1983 Hallmark Keepsake Ornament
QX4027
This 1983 Hallmark Keepsake Christmas Ornament features a "hooded" wood-look cradle, with an infant dressed in yellow, laying on a white, lace-trimmed pillow with green polka dots, and covered by a matching baby blanket with a green satin ribbon on the front. The cradle cover has "windows" on the side, so the tot can peek out, and is decorated with red poinsettias, red tulips, and red daisies, in a Pennsylvania Dutch folk art style, using pastel blue, yellow, green, and pink. Both sides of the cradle have "BABY'S FIRST CHRISTMAS" in red and the front panel is dated "1983," in red. The rockers have a heart shape cut out in the center and the copyright is on the underside of the base. The ornament can stand on it's own, or be hung from the top. It's encased in a green velvet flocked tray, molded for protection, and is packaged in the original box with a clear plastic lid.
Marjorie Frances was an artist and quote contributor for Hallmark's vintage ornaments during the late 1970's and early 1980's. She is credited for her original quotes under Marjorie Frances and also, her full name, Marjorie Frances Ames. She is the designer of this highly-collectible cradle ornament, which also has a quote by her on the back of the box: "There's a new little stocking hung up on the mantel, and new little presents appear--There's a special new feeling of fun and excitement, of holiday magic and cheer--There's a new sense of closeness and warmhearted sharing as family and loved ones draw near, For a new little someone is bringing such joy to this wonderful time of the year!"
