Tin Locomotives
1982 Tin Locomotive #1, Rare
1982 Hallmark Tin Locomotives Ornament
QX4603
First in the Tin Locomotive Hallmark Keepsake series.
This 1982 Hallmark Keepsake Ornament is a blue and red steam engine, made of pressed tin and metal, dated with "1982," on both sides in gold. It has a big, brass bell, from which it hangs, a silver cowcatcher, red cab with green and pink accents, red front wheels, and orange, yellow and black rear wheels. The wheels move and the bell swings but doesn't "ring." It's also dated in the copyright, on the underside of the grey and black undercarriage, with the series verification symbol. It's packaged in the original box with clear, plastic lid and green flocked velvet tray, molded for protection.
Linda Sickman, one of the original Hallmark Keepsake Ornament artists, started working for Hallmark in 1963 and joined the Keepsake division in 1975. She's best known for her work with pressed tin, folk art, and the series, "Rocking Horse Memories," which ran from 1981-1996. Her most sought-after pieces include the Winter Angel and Americana-style Santa and Mrs. Claus figures.
