Hallmark Keepsake Ornament
1982 Muppets Party
1982 Hallmark Keepsake Ornament
QX2186
This 1982 Hallmark Keepsake Christmas Ornament is hard to find, compared to other Muppets ornaments, due to the lower production quantity.
The white satin ball has a clear plastic sleeve, printed with a holiday party scene, featuring Miss Piggy, singing with some members of The Electric Mayhem band, on top of a green grand piano, next to a candelabra with red taper candles. She's wearing a red gown with white fur trim at the neck, red shoes, white pearls, long lavender gloves, and an ermine fur stole. Dr. Teeth wears a Santa hat with a matching cape, while he plays piano with Floyd on guitar, Zoot on saxophone, and Animal on drums. All the backup singers are wearing Santa hats: a trio of frogs, The Great Gonzo, Kermit, Rowlf the Dog, and Fozzie Bear. Animal's drum has "MERRY CHRISTMAS" on the front with a holly cluster in the middle and Fozzie is dressed as Santa, carrying a sack of gifts for all. A garland of evergreen branches, red bows and multicolored ornaments spans both the panels and the dated copyright is printed in between, on the plastic sleeve. The ornament is packaged in the original "window" box, viewable from all sides, so you can see the entire bulb.
Fun Fact: Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem was the name of the Muppet rock band that debuted in 1975 on The Muppet Show. Later, it became simply, "The Electric Mayhem," as there was no official "frontman." Inspired by actual rock/jazz musicians, they appeared in several television specials, Muppet movies, and recorded numerous "covered" songs. Band members include: Dr. Teeth on vocals and keyboards, Animal on drums, Floyd Pepper on vocals and bass, Janice on vocals and lead guitar, Zoot on saxophone, and Lips on trumpet. Lips was not always part of the group but did have several cameos, and Animal, Floyd, and Zoot also played in the pit band on The Muppet Show, performing both the opening and closing theme songs.
