Hallmark Keepsake Ornament
1982 Cowboy Snowman
1982 Hallmark Keepsake Ornament
QX4806
This 1982 Hallmark Keepsake Ornament features an adorable snowman, dressed as a cowboy, complete with a candy cane pistol! He's wearing a red cowboy hat with green hatband, red cowboy boots with metallic silver stars around the top, green mittens, a red and white bandana around his neck, rope around his left shoulder, tan earmuffs, and a brown gun belt with metallic-silver buckles. He's got one hand on his holster and is giving a proper Texas salute with the other! The ornament is dated in the copyright on the underside of the left boot and it can stand on it's own, or be hung from the top. It's packaged in the original box with clear plastic lid and green flocked velvet tray, molded for protection.
NOTE: Cowboy Snowman was issued with two versions: This version, produced in higher quantity, has a more narrow hatband, slightly different bandana print, and a single, wide candy cane stripe, whereas the more rare version has both wide and narrow red stripes on the candy cane, and a zig-zag trim on the bandana's border.
Linda Sickman, one of the original Hallmark Keepsake Ornament artists, started working for Hallmark in 1963 and joined the Keepsake division in 1975. She's best known for her work with pressed tin, folk art, and the series, "Rocking Horse Memories," which ran from 1981-1996. Her most sought-after pieces include the Winter Angel and Americana-style Santa and Mrs. Claus figures.
