Hallmark Keepsake Ornament

1981 St. Nicholas

1981 Hallmark Keepsake Ornament

QX4462

This 1981 Hallmark Keepsake Ornament features a pressed tin Santa holding a dangling lantern in his right hand and a bag of toys with his left. Blue and gold ball ornaments hang from his pocket, with a candy cane, and the magic sack has iridescent stars and crescent moons on it, with some toys hanging out of the open top: a white dollhouse with green roof, jingle bells on a red leather strap, jester and doll puppets, candy canes, a snare drum, teddy bear, and trumpet. The ornament hangs from a small hole punched in the tin at the top of his fur-trimmed hood. It's packaged in the original box with clear, plastic lid and tray, molded for protection. The background art in the box makes it appear as if he's walking down a brick road past traditional Alpine cottages, with smoke coming from their cozy chimneys, as Santa braves the cold to deliver hand-crafted memories in-the-making. The ornament is packaged in the original box with clear plastic lid and tray, molded for protection.

Linda Sickman, one of the original Hallmark Keepsake Ornament artists, started working for Hallmark in 1963 and joined the Keepsake division in 1975. She's best known for her work with pressed tin, folk art, and the series, "Rocking Horse Memories," which ran from 1981-1996. Her most sought-after pieces include the Winter Angel and Americana-style Santa and Mrs. Claus figures.
