1980 Mouse on a Candlestick, Ambassador

This 1980 Hallmark Christmas ornament was released by their subsidiary, Ambassador, as part of The Holiday House Collection, and is a rare find for collectors of this box/brand. Ambassador was a division of Hallmark Cards, Inc. from 1979-1982, and approximately 50 different ornaments were sold in select stores, such as Ben Franklin, Woolworth's, card shops, drug stores and supermarkets. This ornament is a clear, acrylic disc with beveled edge and features a frosted mouse with Santa hat hiding behind a lit taper candle in a chamberstick. It reads: "Merry Christmas" above the image and, "1980," below it. The candle holder has a finger loop, to put your finger through so you can safely carry the lit candle, a wide saucer base to catch any dripping wax while walking, and a thumb rest at the top of the loop to steady the holder with your thumb. The copyright is on the back at the top edge. The ornament is packaged in the original Ambassador box with a clear plastic lid, and a green, flocked plastic bottom with a hole in the back, so you can feel the carving.
