1980 Hallmark Keepsake Ornament

QX2221

B

This Hallmark Christmas Ornament is part of the Tree-Trimmer Collection and features a cream-colored, unbreakable satin ball with a transparent plastic sleeve, printed with a koala bear, quail and a pear tree. One one side, the bird sits at the top of the tree, while the bear carries them both. The caption reads, "Christmas 1980" in cursive at the bottom. The other side shows the bear with a blue watering can, sprinkling a small plant in a pot, while holding a red stocking and wearing a green bow around his neck. The sentiment above his little bird friend is: "'Tis the season when hearts are glowing, love is growing, and happiness rounds out the year!" The ornament is also dated in the copyright, printed in between the panels, on the plastic sleeve. It's packaged in the original "window" box, viewable from all sides, with tag.

Linda Sickman, one of the original Hallmark Keepsake Ornament artists, started working for Hallmark in 1963 and joined the Keepsake division in 1975. She's best known for her work with pressed tin, folk art, and the series, "Rocking Horse Memories," which ran from 1981-1996. Her most sought-after pieces include the Winter Angel and Americana-style Santa and Mrs. Claus figures.
