1979 Betsey Clark #7, Holiday Fun 1979 Hallmark Keepsake Ornament QX2019 This 1979 Hallmark Christmas Ornament is seventh in the "Betsey Clark" series. The unbreakable, white satin ball has a transparent, plastic sleeve printed with two Beetsey Clark designs. The message panel shows two young girls in prairie dresses and aprons, sitting indoors, on a wooden bench and looking through a photo album together. A black and white kitten, with a green bow for a collar, is curled up on a round, blue and white rug under them, and it looks as if it's done playing with the ball of yarn and beaded garland from the Christmas tree. The sentiment reads, "HOLIDAY FUN TIMES MAKE MEMEORIES TO TREASURE." On the side dated "1979," they are outdoors, and the one dressed in red is pulling a fir tree on a sled, while the one in green carries a present wrapped in orange ribbon. A blue bird flies above them and another is on the ground with a brown bird. The ornament is also dated on the copyright, printed on the bottom edge of the sleeve. It's packaged in the original "window" box, viewable from all sides, so you can see the entire bulb. Betsey Clark (1915–1987), the American artist famous for her old-fashioned drawings of nature and waif-like children, started working for Hallmark in 1962, and her greeting card illustrations were so beloved, Hallmark made their first series of Keepsake Ornaments, in 1973, using her cottage-core art, which was then widely licensed, and is now highly collectible.
