1978 Hallmark early 90's, and is best known for creating the beloved Keepsake Ornament
QX1496
This 1978 Hallmark Christmas Ornament is part of the Tree-Trimmer Collection and features a little mushroom house that makes a perfect home for a mouse. The tan mushroom with thick stalk and wide canopy cap has a large window with red shutters on each side, a front arch surrounded by ivy, and stone steps. Mr. Mouse is dressed for company, wearing a red vest with a green bowtie, and entertaining a girl mouse in a long, green gown. There's no furniture inside and it looks like they're going to have to go out for dinner, but he appears determined to impress! The copyright is under the right window ledge and the ornament can stand on it's own, or be hung from the top. It's packaged in the original metallic-gold box, with clear, plastic lid, black flocked velvet plastic tray, and the original metallic-gold tag.
Fun Fact: Mice symbolize adaptability because they navigate tiny spaces and have the ability to find hidden solutions and thrive in difficult environments. In Eastern Slavic folklore, they represent abundance, fertility, and diligence. Their habit of gathering and storing food exemplifies diligence and long-term security. Modern culture often depicts the mouse as a reminder that even the smallest and/or quietest among us can make a significant impact.
Donna Lee, the artist, worked for Hallmark from 1958 until she retired in the early 90's, and is best known for creating the beloved Keepsake series, "Nostalgic Houses and Shops," and "Donna Lee Angels."
