1977 Hallmark Keepsake Ornament
QX1835
This 1977 Hallmark Nostalgia Christmas Ornament is part of the Tree-Trimmer Collection and features a green steam locomotive, toy soldier, and a Jack-in-the-Box on the front. The reverse side gives the back view of the scene, but with a giant, borwn teddy bear sitting in front of the train engine. Encircled by a red ring, meant to look as if it were carved from wood, the top has a white banner with "1977," in metallic-gold. The red, green, blue and white ornament has metallic-gold accents on the outside rim and all of the toys but the bear.
Linda Sickman, one of the original Hallmark Keepsake Ornament artists, started working for Hallmark in 1963 and joined the Keepsake division in 1975. She's best known for her work with pressed tin, folk art, and the series, "Rocking Horse Memories," which ran from 1981-1996. Her most sought-after pieces include the Winter Angel and Americana-style Santa and Mrs. Claus figures.
