Hallmark Keepsake Ornament
1975 Drummer Boy, Nostalgia
1975 Hallmark Keepsake Ornament
QX1301
This 1975 Hallmark Nostalgia Ornament is part of the Tree-Trimmer Collection and features a young, blonde boy with a snare drum, marching as he drums. He's wearing blue pants, brown shoes, a green jacket, and red Winter scarf with metallic-gold fringe. Made to look like a wooden carving, the scene is encased within a metallic-gold and red circular frame. The famous Christmas carol, "The Little Drummer Boy" has a snare drum rhythm with syncopated rolls, L-R-L and R-L-R, to mimic a marching cadence, and this 'lil guy is definitely marching to the beat of his own drum! Packaged in a metallic-gold box with a clear lid, the ornament is securely nestled in a recessed, red "velvet-feel" insert.
Fun Fact: The most celebrated duet to perform, "The Little Drummer Boy," was Bing Crosby and David Bowie, who did a medley mashup of that song and "Peace on Earth," in 1977. A "live" in-studio recording for Bing's "Merrie Olde Christmas" TV special, the famous arrangement was filmed at Elstree Studios, in London, and was rehearsed in less than an hour.
