This 2026 Hallmark Keepsake Miniature Tree Skirt displays the Rebel Alliance symbol, from the Star Wars franchise. The gray and taupe fabric skirt has a small hole at the center and is slit half through the middle for easy insertion and removal. It's trimmed with metallic-silver stitching all around the stylized phoenix bird icon. Known as the Alliance Starbird, the icon has three prongs at the "head," to symbolize Hope, Resistance, and Rebirth for the Republic. In the original trilogy of Star Wars movies, it was displayed on X-wing pilots' helmets and uniforms, to represent the Alliance's goal to rise, like the legendary Greek Phoenix, from the ashes of the Galactic Empire. The first rendition was a mark of defiance by the Mandalorian graffiti artist, Sabine Wren, painted in red, yellow, and orange flame-like colors, with the bird's head clearly defined. Adopted as an icon for the rebellion, it became the sleek, "classic starbird," then evolved into the current version, which is a stylized combination of the starbird and the insignia of Saw Gerrera's Partisans. Originated during the Clone Wars, with the rebels of Onderon, this three-pronged crest known as the Onderonian banner, was sometimes worn on the cape or shoulder, and used as identification on equipment. Similar motifs are found in ancient Jedi iconography and Old Republic texts, which shows it to be a recurring theme, reclaimed from galactic history and revisited with each generation.
