1982 Miss Piggy And Kermit, Muppets 1982 Hallmark Keepsake Ornament QX2183 NOTE: This product code was previously used by Hallmark for the 1978 "First Christmas Together" satin ball ornament. This 1982 Hallmark Keepsake Christmas Ornament is a white satin ball with clear plastic sleeve featuring Miss Piggy and Kermit from The Muppets. The message panel has a green background and shows Miss Piggy sitting by her Christmas tree, wearing a red robe with white fur trim, surrounded by shiny presents. The sentiment is above in white, cursive text and reads: "Have yourself a lavish little Christmas!" The opposite panel has Kermit, against a red background, holding a green glass ball ornament with a green and red striped bow, in front of a garland of greenery and more glass balls, interspersed with beaded strings and bows. The caption above him says "Season's Greenings," as an homage to the color green, and is dated below, in the right corner with "1982." The ornament is packaged in the original "window" box, viewable from all sides, so you can see the entire bulb. Fun Fact: The first version that Jim Henson created of the Muppet, Kermit the Frog, in 1955, wasn't green at all! It was more like a lizard than a frog and the color was a turquoise-beige, made from an old spring coat of his mother's, a pair of his blue jeans, and two ping-pong balls, cut in half, for eyes. The Smithsonian National Museum of American History, in Washington, DC, became home to the original Kermit the Frog puppet in 2010, when Jane Henson donated it and other early characters, which is appropriate, as he was made for the local DC television show, "Sam and Friends."
